The ‘Ruby Bay Store’ is a concept begun, and still developing, by three long time Ruby Bay locals; Kester Macfarlane (very sadly now deceased), Carol Cromie, and Chrissie Small, along with Kester & Carol’s niece Anna Macfarlane.
In collaboration, and with support from some wonderful locals, along with Manatū Taonga, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, we have refurbished the original 1943 ‘Blue Horizon Tearooms’ to the now ‘Ruby Bay Store’. Providing a flexible space for the local community to share and experience ideas, we’re hoping you’ll appreciate our vision to connect our community, whether it be meeting friends for a catch up, or coming to support our live music, film sessions, documentaries, and speakers/lecturers.
We hope to host workshops to enable community skill sharing. The space is available for private hire e.g. life celebrations, fundraising events, lectures and workshops etc. Check us out.
We have an alcohol license from 10am to 11pm. We stock Mussel Inn Beer & Cider, wine, juice, soft drinks, hot chocolate, tea, and espresso coffee.
